KUALA TERENGGANU: An argument between two brothers over who should watch his favourite television programme ended in tragedy when one of them was stabbed.
In the 8pm incident on Tuesday in Kampung Telaga Papan, Kema-man, both of them started arguing when each wanted to watch different shows.
The war of words worsened and a scuffle broke out.
The 37-year-old assailant grabbed a sharp object and stabbed his younger brother in the abdomen before fleeing.
Terengganu CID chief Asst Comm K. Manoharan said the victim, Abdul Hisham Ahmad, 23, was rushed to a nearby clinic in Kerteh but succumbed to his injuries 30 minutes later.
The elder brother was detained at about 4.30am in the same village.
The suspect tested positive for methamphetamine in a urine test.
“The victim’s body has been sent to Kemaman Hospital for a post- mortem,” he said yesterday.
The incident was witnessed by their father Ahmad Din, 59.
“They were getting at each other. I told my elder son to get out of the house to cool down.
“I didn’t notice my younger son was stabbed as he was wearing a black shirt and my vision is not good,” he said.
Ahmad said Abdul Hisham fell unconscious and he rushed him to the clinic with the help of a neighbour.
“I cannot believe my son is gone over a silly television programme,” he said.
